    Fantastic subject treated well.

However a very cheap and badly put together documentary. The MPEG encoding is well below par - the tracking shots jitter, colours are lack lustre and on the whole the editing and reconstructions are appaling.

Vesides that though the factual inforamtion presented is interesting and helps overcome the technicaly sub standard film making. For enthusiasts only...

    Quite poor...

This documentary could've been so much better. Though it explores its subject in detail, it fails to engage the view in any way. The repeated, over-used techniques employed become a very boring afair for the viewer and we are left dissatisfied. Certainly it is a good documentary for those viewers'who are looking for the information only!

This documentary was somewhat short on imagery but the history was very

interesting. It was little more like a good show on Radio 4 than something that really

needed video. The maps, locations and manuscripts were good, but the re-enactments

were pretty low budget. Still worth watching for history buffs.

    Interesting points raised

If you are looking for a feature which supports the conspiracy theories around the Da Vinci Code, then you will be disappointed with this release. These four documentary episodes, which I think were first aired on the Discovery Channel, use recognised historians to cover a factually based account based on real evidence. The series is rather slow in places and the scenes and reconstructions are very low budget but the series is quite interesting all the same.

    Slow & monotonous

Some interesting historical bits but so slow it fails to keep you interested.

    Excellent documentary

It's a documentary which clearly explains this complicated part of history.

Very well doucumented, and a beautiful production. It is not a low budget production.

Personally, it clarified many gaps I had in the understanding of this society.

    Dull

History can surely be told in a more interesting way than this. What a boring way to tell such a fantastic story.

    50p Documentary

Informative but 'tacky' bargain basement documentary on the Templars . You learn a bit but the bargain basement production values are embarassingly bad. Only see if you have nothing else on your list to see.
