i know that jerry lewis writes, direct, acts and also a funny comic.yes some parts of the movie was funny and i grew up watching jerry lewis, bob hope and many more.some how i did not laugh as much as i would watching this,it seems like i knew what was next to come and if this happens in a comedy the jokes wont grab you,i like that unexpected punch lines or actions taken.with jerry in this and seeing his other work it looks like something you seen before.- Was this review helpful to you?

(5)The Ladies Man
By a customer from Aberdeen , 02 Jan 2009..Oh Dear!!. I took a chance on this one so did not quite know what to expect in the first place.
I think if you like the clumsy, cheeky chappie comedy style of Norman Wisdom, then you will like this but for me I felt Jerry Lewis get on my nerves after five minutes and never watched this through.- Was this review helpful to you?

What is comedy?
By hammer99 (28 reviews) from Chelmsford , 31 Oct 2005This is a frustrating film in that it has many of the ingredients required to make it a great one but ultimately fails in a fundamental way. The studio set is quite incredible and the camerawork and colour are often innovative and stunning and I'm sure that back in the early 60s these aspects of the film were seen to be pushing back cinematic boundaries. For this, Jerry Lewis the director deserves plaudits. Unfortunately however, for me, Jerry Lewis the actor/comic is the factor that makes the film fail since the man is just not funny. Presumably in the post-war middle of the 20th century there was a demand for his cutsie-juvenile-village idiot type of character but it comes nowhere near cutting-it in these more cynical days. Compared to Jerry Lewis in this performance, Mr. Bean would come across as Lenny Bruce.- Was this review helpful to you?

Released in 2004? More like 1804!
By Debbie Neville from Essex , 08 Jan 2005I cant say too much about this film as I only saw it for the first 30 minutes and that was enough for us. It says the film was released in 2004 so we were looking for a comedy that had been filmed fairly recently, but it was something from the 1950's. (Not that I have anything against the 1950's, just wasnt what we expected!)
It was billed as a comedy, but we consider the film to be a bit pathetic, the main actor reminded me a bit of Mr Bean, you know supposed to be funny but just comes accross stupid and irritating.
30 minutes of time watching it was enough for us, I wouldnt spend any longer than that at all.- Was this review helpful to you?
