I'll keep this brief: this film was bad. Not bad in a good way either, just BAD. The acting's fine and it looks great, it's just those pesky things the script and characters - a bunch of well off middle class white guys (the only black guy is the gay neighbour - token alert!) who moan about their relationships with hot women and their lives being planned out. I hate it when you KNOW you're going to buy a million dollar home with a model type lady, don't you?! Some of the characters could easily be chopped out of this and you'd never know it or, more importantly, care. OK, this is going on a bit but I can feel the venting doing good. To summarise - baaad, totally implausible script and dreary, self-obsessed characters. Sold!
Lets face it, the name and the cover will probably send guys running for the hills screaming 'chick flick'!! Although if anything this a 'guy flick'.
Or at least it is if you're around that dodgy late twenties - early thirties age group (which I am) and haven't got a clue about anything involving kids and marriage.
As with 'Garden State' Braff does a bang up job playing the lovable yet flawed protagonist and, like the rest of his work, the soundtrack is both fitting and contemporary (and really good).
All in all this, along with the afore mentioned 'Garden State' is a bloody good film and well worth seeing (Garden State's probably better mind).
Having said that it may cause unwanted debate if viewed with members of the opposite sex, Just thought i'd mention that.
Oscar-winning writer Paul Haggis has agreed to put pen to paper for the next film in the James Bond franchise, it emerged today. Haggis, who co-wrote last year's rejuvenation of the spy franchise, Casino Royale, is to lend his talents once again for the 22nd movie, reports the Los Angeles Times. The film is as-yet untitled but could see the eponymous hero keep his smooth yet brutal personality, as brilliantly played by Daniel Craig in his first outing as Bond. And prospects for the movie may be Read more
