This is a really good film to sit and watch with the kids, as it will entertain them and keep you happy enough as well. Has a slightly easter bias (Mimsy happens to be a - way too cute - stuffed wabbit !) so is ideal to watch with the young 'uns around the easter holidays, (though if it isn't easter you will still enjoy this anyway). has enough to keep the young (and not so young) entertained. Recommended.
The Last Mimzy is the latest in a mini influx of magical family adventures and just like the last few we have watched, including Spiderwick, Stardust and 10,000 BC; this movie is really quite enjoyable. The story is based round two children, a brother and sister, who discover a strange package in the water at a nearby beach. The two children conceal the contents with the young girl falling in love with one item in particular in the form of a toy rabbit (Mimzy). The children slowly develop new abilities as they are drawn into a magical sci-fi story suitable for all ages. The Last Mimzy certainly did entertain, however, it was not the most action packed of family films we have watched recently and takes a long time to get going, my mind wandered a few times and I am sure some childrens minds might too. That said this movie picks up pace and ends nicely leaving my wife and I reasonably satisfied. Not the strongest family movie but still worth a watch and just scrapes into the 4 stars with a 7/10 score.
