A fine piece of British filmmaking...
By a customer from Hartlepool , 25 Jul 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
If I said, from the director of 'Blade' and 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen', some of you might cringe. However, you've got to give it to brit director Stephen Norrington, both of those films LOOK great if nothing else. The Last Minute is no exception - it's slick, it's fast paced and Max Beesley does a great job in the lead role. He plays the role of Billy, media darling and supposed next best thing - however, his career takes a turn for the worse and his whole world appears to spiral out of control. The supporting cast are solid and Norrington (who both writes and directs this time) shows us what flair can be demonstrated in what is essentially a low budget brit flick. As far as British films go, this is most definitely a breath of fresh air. Definitely worth a second viewing.- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)Weird And Disappointing.
By filmsaremypassion (149 reviews) from Bexhill , 15 Jul 2010The Last Minute is a weird and disappointing near two hour film I have seen. It will not appeal to everyone, no way is it funny unless you like this sort of thing and the disappointing part is that I rented this out for Stephen Dorff only to be shocked that he was only in it VERY briefly. But it does have a thundering soundtrack though there isn't any subtiltes (hate it when films don't have those, especially if the actors mumble under thieir breaths and the viewer has to turn it up so loud it could break the speakers). Max Beesley was okay in his role as a man who had it all then lost it in a instant. Jason Isaacs was chilling yet poured rich charsmia as a violent/singing/dancing villian. There were also some Brittish familer faces in this as well. I wouldn't really recommend this film, I found it rather poor, weird and seriously disappointing of the lack of Stephen Dorff. Only for people who enjoy this sort of movies.- Was this review helpful to you?

Customer Review
By a customer from UK , 23 Jun 2008I only watched the 25 minutes of this film. That was enough. The film apparently tries very hard to be clever and funny and it fails on both counts. At least two of the scenes in the first 25 minutes I found offensive, if not obscene. I found it quite dislikeable, and I give it one star since that is the minimum the server will accept.- Was this review helpful to you?

Worthy, but lacking
By a customer from Lincolnshire, England , 21 Aug 2007I enjoyed this far more than i thought i would. I am very shallow and so put this on my rental list purely because I heard that Jason Isaacs gets a bit of cabaret sorta thing in it.
I wasn't disappointed, on so many levels.
The bits with Jason Isaacs in were to say the least, amusing, but i was more surprised by how much the rest of it held my attention.
Be it slightly lacklustre in areas, and sometimes the trippy editing gets a little too much, it is still a worthy film.
There is a great deal of representation and symbolism behind the story, and camera work as well, giving even the most critical minds a challenge.
So as much as i believed it to be an ok attempt at something reminscent of Guy Ritchie, and it is far from perfect, it is still a remarkable film, with an interesting message. It is enjoyable, but be careful not to lose concentration or you will miss it!- Was this review helpful to you?
