    [Highly rated reviewer]

Quite possibly the greatest film you will ever see. Stunning scenery, world class acting and a haunting soundtrack that will never leave you.

The end fight sequence is the stuff of legends.

    See it at all costs.

  • What On Earth Was This Film About?!

    Rated - 0.5 stars

This is going to be a short and sweet review by my good self. - Namely, what on earth was this film about?! I simply couldn't make head nor tail of it and even if someone explained it to me, I'd still never re-watch it. (Including this film), the last two films I've watched directed by Michael Mann, (Collateral was the other) have been dire, but this one of the two even more so. If you're after a Michael Mann film watch, 'Heat.'

  • Blu ray 'Director's Definitive Cut'

    Rated - 5.0 stars
By mephistopheles (41 reviews) from Cheshire , 06 Mar 2013
The new restored 'Definitive Cut' of Michael Mann's superb movie, is now available on blu ray only. The running time is approx. 3 minutes 32 seconds longer than the original Theatrical Cut and around 2 minutes shorter than the Expanded Dvd Edition. There are previously cut lines (from the expanded edition) and most notably Clannad’s song “I Will Find You” returned to rightful place, but instead of the original English lyrics, the lyrics are now in Gaelic and all the more better for it. The audio and soundtrack in this transfer is simply stunning. The picture quality is not the sharpest particularly in some of the night time forest scenes but still overall very satisfactory. The movie itself is a masterpiece from start to finish. The stunning cinemtagraphy, the sweeping soundtrack, I had not watched this in years and had forgotten just how breathtaking and beautiful it is. How any film lover could be so jaded as to not like this movie I can not fathom. I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

  • Not Daniel's finest hour...

Silly action-romance dressed up with historical pretensions, themselves based on romanticized fictional accounts. Pap. Nice scenery but overall terrible, over-acted nonsense.

The plot was good and I like Michael Mann as he always manages to direct some good classic movies. Tha acting and the photography was good despite what some film critcics may say. I was particularly impressed by Madeline Stowe: she was brilliant in this..
