The Last SentinelBy a customer from Reading , 15 Aug 2009
[Highly rated reviewer]It's probably not necessary to go into great detail to attack or defend this film. It was shot by a former stuntman who directed two other movies that same year on what I would guess was a low, made-for-cable-TV kind of budget - most of which was clearly spent on acquiring the services of cult genre actors Keith David (John Carpenter's The Thing) and Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck in the Battlestar Galactica revival).
This information alone should be enough for you to draw your own conclusions as to the film's quality.
My main reason for writing this was to address this curious statement from an earlier reviewer:
'...It reminded me of the 80/90s when acting and over the top action shots was normal and ecepted, but in this day and age it will be in the bargin bin...'
I'm not entirely sure I can decipher every aspect of that strange sentence, ('...when acting was normal...' - Eh?) but anyone who loves action movies knows that the 80s/early 90s was the golden era for the genre. The Sentinel might well be comparable to the straight-to-video clag of that (or any subsequent) time, but in no way is it on a par with such classics as The Terminator, Die Hard, Predator, Total Recall, Robocop or many other 80s/90s movies I could mention. These films are miles ahead of the watered-down, teen-friendly dross that constitutes much of modern cinema's action output. - M

dull, went to bed !!By NealT (53 reviews) , 05 Jun 2013katee sackhoff was much better in battlestar gallactica. couldn't really get excited about this film. talking guns ?? yeah right personal view is that this is not well written, acting is not great. 'not blown away but certainly faded away'
Decent movie but not a blockbuster by any standard.By Wookie2 (6 reviews) , 20 May 2013A decent movie overall. Definitely not the worst i've ever seen but not the greatest either. Had to give it a chance given that Katee Sachoff was in it (I loved her in Battlestar Galactica) and it actually exceeded my expectations. As others have stated probably best viewed as a made for TV style movie. That should give some indication as to the type of film that you're about to view and avoid any real disappointment.
Do NOT watch this if you have ANYTHING else to do!By Tigersdancing (16 reviews) , 06 May 2013
[Highly rated reviewer]Total Rubbish. I love Katie Sackhoff and have no idea what she is doing in this. Utter tripe from beginning to end - trite dialogue, ridiculous premise and the most ridiculously long and pointless fight sequences I've ever seen. Save yourself an hour and a half and don't bother. Seriously.
OK Movie, old TV Style but watchableBy CarnageAce (94 reviews) , 30 Mar 2013It was ok for the type of movie, i would usually describe these types of movie as made for TV, that is a low budget but good production quality. The film entertained me simple shooting action in the bad robot story mold. Nothing special but watchable.
Nothing to see hereBy MaceyDean (15 reviews) , 29 Mar 2013
[Highly rated reviewer]The acting is extremely poor, the direction utterly amateur, and the camerawork is criminal. Seriously, turn around and walk away.
