[Highly rated reviewer]Quite a strong portrayal of an individual's refusal to be tied to responsibility and constructive contribution. The main character,The Earl of Rochester, manages by chance to have some small positive influence on others, in spite of himself.
This film is a fascinating and blunt portrayal which explores the part of human beings that many try desperately to avoid or challenge.
The main character played by Johnny Depp, would have been furious at the thought of having to be forced to watch trailers for other movies on this DVD.

The Libertine, What Can I Say???By a customer from Braintree , 06 Nov 2009WOW! Would be the first word to describe this film. We thought it was a fantastic film with brilliant acting from all the cast, especially Johnny Depp and John Malkovich, not forgetting of course, Johnny Vegas. It was also beautifully filmed giving a really feel for the period and how dirty and depraved it was in all walks of life.
Fantastic film we would definatly recommend it.
hot creepBy a customer from Benbecula , 17 Sep 2009Even though Johnny Depp was a horrible guy in this film you can't help thinking how hot he is. Enough said!
Probably too bright for me or I was too tired...By Bermondsey (86 reviews) from Bermondsey, London , 13 Sep 2009...but couldn't watch it...It is likely to be excellent but it went above my head.

Not the usualBy a customer from Barnsley , 09 Aug 2009Although quirky it is not the usual jonny depp.
This film quicky begins to drag and looses the viewers interest.
Maybe worth a look but not for those who like the traitional BBC Jane Austen
