LOVEFiLM Review
-
By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM
Auteur Wes Anderson returns with his biggest, most star-studded and most esoteric film to date. Stylised visuals, an eccentric soundtrack and a tale of a man seeking revenge on a shark. In short, a treat.

Weird is the word
By Judy Geater from Ipswich , 22 Feb 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
As you might expect from Wes Anderson, this film is a weird, whimsical offering which doesn't fit into any categories. It veers between farce, tragedy and satire on reality TV.
One of the oddest things is the musical soundtrack, featuring folk-style versions of David Bowie songs translated into Portuguese.
Bill Murray plays another man in a mid-life crisis - the captain of a rusting submarine. Zissou is a washed-up film-maker who has devoted his life to studying marine life, but now wants to destroy a piece of it - by killing the mysterious jaguar shark which killed his friend.
Owen Wilson plays Steve's long-lost son, Ned, with Cate Blanchett as a haughty journalist boasting an impossibly posh accent.
The whole movie is visually stunning and unlike anything else you've ever seen - I enjoyed it, but can see it's a film which won't be to everyone's taste.- Was this review helpful to you?

(471)Here we go again....
By chris-m (16 reviews) , 21 Feb 2013Another load of obscure, plotless and self-indulgent nonsense from director Wes Anderson. Why do people keep giving him the money to make such rubbish? We can only live in hope that one day the backers will see that the emperor has no clothes on. Avoied unless you're chained to a radiator in the Bekaa Valley and this is the only entertainment on offer.- Was this review helpful to you?

another classic from Wes Anderson
By a customer , 30 Jan 2013Yes of course this is weird! but it's highly watchable, amusing and entertaining from start to finish. Bill Murray is superb in quite a star laden cast. Silly, warm, quirky - all the ingredients you'd wish for in a Wes Anderson film. Certainly on a par with Moonrise Kingdom, Rushmore etc.- Was this review helpful to you?

GO ON, WATCH IT!
By seajr (1 review) , 28 Dec 2012This is super cool, heartfelt film about comradeship, friendship, love and jelousy centering around a retro 1970s marine research crew - it's a mediative, beautifully shot, well-written piece of a underwater gem - everyone is well-cast, it's really witty and touching and never loses momentum - great action and stunning sequences - GO ON, WATCH IT!- Was this review helpful to you?

A surprise treat
By a customer , 03 Nov 2012Quirky plot line with a set of very endearing characters. Had me chuckling long after the movie finished. Bill Murray in his most likeable role (IMO).- Was this review helpful to you?
