Before the Tiger

This is a TV movie from 1990 adapted from a novel by Maeve Binchy involving a group of characters who travel back to their village from Dublin every weekend in a lilac bus. Less than 20 years old it is already a period piece as so much has changed in Ireland in that time. It's interesting to see the shots of Dublin but the whole thing seems very old-fashioned although the problems of the characters are timeless. The acting is fine too. One for a rainy afternoon perhaps.- Was this review helpful to you?

(3)Brilliant
By Tillyflop (100 reviews) from England , 07 Aug 2009The only fault I had with this film is that it wasn't long enough! It would have been lovely to see the characters develop but it is well worth seeing - though I preferred the book! The film is of poor quality but that shouldn't put anyone off watching it.- Was this review helpful to you?

Don't watch it read it
By MYB (23 reviews) from High Wycombe , 30 Mar 2009I definately prefer reading Maeve Binchey. The story adaptation on film and the acting leaves a lot to be desired.- Was this review helpful to you?
