ore smoothly crafted than the 1974 slapstick version....The new version has the zip of a 96 yard punt return
If you liked Waterboy and Mean Machine then this film is for you! Adam Sandler is a former American Football Player who is banished from the game due to 'cutting points'. In his spiral down from fame Sandler is caught Driving Under the Influence of alcohol. He is sent to prison where is forced to put together a team of cons against the guards, for the wardens entertainment and guards practice. This film has some genuine laugh out loud moments. There are a number of stars including Burt Reynolds, Nelly, Chris Rock, and wrestlers Goldberg and Stone Cold Steve Austin. If you want a feel good movie with plenty of jokes then watch this film! A must for Adam Sandler fans!
Pretty good film considering the poor job he did with 'Spanglish', very funny and a lot of high profiled celebs are included in the cast.
I'd say this is on a par with some of his better films like 'Billy Maddison' and the 'Water Boy' but slightly differnt to anything he's done before.
And hey if you don't like Adam Sandler watch it for the first 5 minutes of Courtney Cox's smashing breasts :D
I loved this movie, I am a total american sports movie freak. true story of the underdog with a twist....guys rent this movie for a male bonding session (dont take that the wrong way)
This film is really, really bad!
The acting is terrible. The 'comedy' is dated and childish. And what the hell's going on with Burt Reynolds' face?!? The silly old fool looks like he's just been dragged out of a fire!
Avoid this film at all costs!

This isn't your typical Sandler film not once does he really lose his temper and there is no Steve Buscemi.
Admittedly Sandler can miss (Little Nicky) as well as hit (Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy) this film is fortunately more hit than miss.
If you are a Sandler fan then you'll be glad to see Rob Schneider and is "you can do it" role.
Basically the smae film as the original Burt version and the more recent Vinnie Jones version. This film relies on the old jokes and the hard hits.
Chris Rock is close to his stand up with some very close to the knuckle gags.
If you like sports films then this is for you.
If you like this and haven't see any of the following then check them out...
Major League, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy.
I don't know whether i'd have liked this film, had i not already seen Mean Machine with Vinnie Jones and loved it. Everything about The Longest Yard was just a corny, all American version of Mean Machine. Obviously based on the same story, as parts of the script were scarily familiar and they both had 'Mean Machine' as a team name. With Adam Sandler as the lead role, i expected it to be hilarious, but the only god send was Chris Rock. A few moments where i laughed, but otherwise i just kept comparing to Vinnie and co's excellent performance.
To sum up, a poor mans Mean Machine :-D
Gues most of you know the origanal movie made in 1970/80?! Infact they didn't change anything except the actors, but still good acctually and well played from Adam Sandler.
Worth watshing it for fun.
I have seen alot of Adam Sandler films, but I have to say I was disappointed by this film. It didn't really hold my attention, and although there were some funny bits, I believe this film could have been so much better.
Only a four from me for this one....
The Longest Yard, with Adam Sandler,Chris Rock,Nelly, william fichtner, great cast, great soundtrack a really good movie that entertains ,and really hits the spot, very funny and a feel good movie too.

This film was really quite funny and the whole family enjoyed it. There was also very little bad language in it.
