who needs books?
By stephen decantelupe from boston , 13 Dec 2003[Highly rated reviewer]
i never did get to read the second book of this trilogy and after seeing this i was certain i had missed out.
the battle sequences are just jaw dropping and massive is not a big enough word to describe these visual delights.but its not just the action and SFX that make this a supurb achievement. We all thought that Jackson may have had a fluke on the first one.how wrong we were.
the largely untested main characters again deliver superior performances and make us feel like we should be there suffering with them.
possibly a little too much camera panning for visual landscape effects but it is a pretty country after all.
extremely violent for its 12 rating (my daughter found it quite cringy at times) and very long, almost three hours, its a marathon of a film.

Load of old shoemakers
By a customer , 12 Dec 2011The battle scenes are great. The rest reminds me of why I couldn't tolerate Tolkein's books.
'Oh, Piddlepoddle, you are a good fwend.' What garbage.
Rent it for the battle scenes, skip the rest unless you believe in fairies or are just plain feeble-minded.- Was this review helpful to you?

also absolutely fantastic
By Bartinl (3 reviews) from London , 01 Dec 2010can only rate the best again, there was a little minus tho as Faramir in the book was very directly not corrupted by the ring... in the movie however it seemed he almost took the route of Boromir, although a very small inconsistency it took the character's credibility a bit - but in all amazing- Was this review helpful to you?
