When the Lord of the Rings first came out I did not enjoy it one bit. Maybe it was my youth, or maybe I just wasn't ready for wizards and Hobbits yet.
Now, after seeing these Blu Rays, I love them!!
It took me a while to get over the cheery cheery Hobbit nonsense (why are they always laughing?) but as soon as I did I became engrossed in the story.
The Blu Ray sound and picture are good and add to the immersion of the film.
I knocked off a star because a lot of the effects don't stand the test of time (they look a bit ropey in the lovely Blu light) and they are kind of a big part of the movie.
I am now willing to give the Extended Versions a go!!
