Hung and Woo-Ping on top form

Sammo stars as Lam wing a real life disciple of Wong Fei Hung played in the film by the original star of over 95 wong fei hung movies. Hung is his usual funny, fighting self. Top form, great action, there is a great elegance about Wong fei hung and the fight seens are the touch of class we have come to associate with Woo-ping (crouching tiger..., drunken master) There are some great fights and fighters especially wong's Hung gar style and a baddie Monkey pole technique. The movie is great to watch (especially after just watching classics like shaolin death squad and raiders of buddhist kung fu) the only problem is the baddie isnt that bad a person he is only seeking revenge after being lied to about honour and the death of his son. The baddie (sorry i forget he name, he is one of the chief monks in 36th Chamber of Shaolin) is a great fighter and has a good screen presence but no Ghostface killa is he. The film is great with great touches and misses out just on 5 stars for the simple reason that Hong Kong cinema just never hits the spot of Japanese techniqually or in story, but for a chinese movie this is up there with Iron Monkey, Enter the Dragon, Hero and 36th Chamber.

    Watch if you can.

    Excellent martial arts film

This is an excellent martial arts film. Not quite up there with Iron Monkey, but its got very good fighting scenes and a good story. Good evening DVD entertainment.
