Bit of a slow starter, this one. Keep with it cos as soon as Mick appears you'll be hooked. How can anyone be so overgroomed horrible and smoldering at such an age? You won't be too bothered about the plot so don't worry. And the ending should not concern you over much either. It's the older characters who have all the fun in this film, and that they don't appear immediately is a shame, but once they do it's pretty delicious. So for once the young good looking people are not pulling all the strings. Mature women get to call some shots too, and their enjoyment is infectious.

Do ignore any of the vague moralising the film indulges in, in favour of its yummy subversive mood. Tons of flaws and buckets of fun - enjoy!

  • Seriously underrated

Just seen this for the second time, and still think it's brilliant. Great acting, particularly by Jagger and Coburn, a whacky plot that keeps on going places you don't expect, and a mixture of morality tale, comedy of manners and deeply disturbing stuff about personal relationships.

Not sure why this tanked when it came out - maybe it's because it's *very* understated: a lot of the best points of the dialogue are made quietly in little asides. If you want a movie that's 'in your face', this one isn't for you - but very rewarding.

I found this film boring especially since it has an all star cast as I really like Andy Garcia . . .

On the face of things, this movie had a lot going for it - a stellar cast and an interesting plot. However, it suffered in one area, the area which stopped it being taken seriously - Mick Jagger.

A penniless writer (Garcia) meets Mick Jagger, a mysterious escort agency owner, who offers him work and money to ease his financial worries. Garcia goes ahead without telling his wife (Margulies) and ends up intruding on a surreal marriage between Coburn and Williams.

For all the good bits about this movie, my overriding problem all the way through was the continual brooding, yet lifeless presence of Mick Jagger. Flat, lifeless and dull, it amazes me that he still tries his hand at acting after so little success.

The plot lopes along, but without any real conviction, especially once Garcia becomes involved with Williams and Coburn, and ultimately, the film (which never got a cinema release in the UK) runs out of steam.

Possibly watchable if you have nothing better to do, but with so many thousands of other movies out there, I reckon there will always be something that will tempt you more than this. Shame.

A rather sad and torrid film which promises much - especially with the cast it lines up - but ultimately disappoints.

This is a laughable film: the dialogue is full of cliches, the acting is simply horrible (especially Andy Garcia and Mick Jagger) and the premise - oh dear... Not to mention all the weird stuff that's going on like that poor kid they put in a pushchair and pretend it can't really talk yet when it's at least 4 years old and there's no mention of it being disabled! Very bad.
