Alexandre Dumas Pere would NOT be turning in his grave with this excellent film, even though it is a tv movie, it out does with the Leonardo DiCaprio 1998 version. The superbly played cast of the film with Richard Chamberlain playing the twin brother?s King Louis XIV/Philippe so well, one nice and the other not so nice, and not forgetting the beautiful charms of Jenny Agutter, but another great performer is Patrick McHoogan, giving his best, as the Conniving Fouquet
This is one of those films where NO special effects and NO explosions, makes for a decent film.
At the end, it does make you think if there was ever the possibilities of another brother?
Ive tried watching this film several times on tv and never got to see it all. Brilliant film well worth the wait
