Could have been so much better!

With this storyline this movie could have been so much better. The plot was original and very well acted out by those concerned. However, the operatic element although relevant to the story, was overcooked and became boring. I suppose if the viewer is an opera lover then this movie is right up their street. The storyline surrounds an exciled Russian, a Jew and a Gypsy all involved with an Italian operatic tenor in Paris when the Germans invade ... what a plot ... but nothing really comes of it which I consider a shame ... such an opportunity missed. Sorry, only average for me even with Cate Blanchett and Johnny Depp in the cast.
