(29)an interesting western
By denis007 (133 reviews) , 27 Jan 2013Lee Marvin was superb in his role. Wayne was not as impressive as he had been in the past, sadly! James Stewart was wonderful! His role fits him like a glove. It was a nice touch to let believe the audience that he had actually killed Liberty Valance with his left hand and injured on his right hand. The words of the journalist and the train conductor (at the end) are most certainly the two best lines of this movie. It says it all! I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was well worth the time spent watching it!- Was this review helpful to you?

An alright film, if a little overlong
By Abby88 (167 reviews) from Bognor Regis , 15 Nov 2012Some funny characters and I liked Stewart and Wayne, however I didn't feel very invested because you see the end at the start.- Was this review helpful to you?

The title alone will make you want to rent this film, cast full of Stars- The Duke, Jimmy Stewart, Vera Miles and Lee Marvin. A simple story of a small town bulled by an outlaw, when an educated young lawyer enters the town he tries to turn it around, but the law of the GUN rules and soon realises that there is only one way to stop the lawlessness, with a helping hand there is a fine finish to this GREAT movie PILGRIM ..- Was this review helpful to you?

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
By laneyb (256 reviews) from Rochester, Kent , 05 Oct 2010I love a Western every now and again, but I am not a John Wayne fan. But he was ok in this, I cannot believe I watched a film with him in and enjoyed it. James Stewart on the other hand, as always is Fantastic. It's great to see all the greats together in one film, Lee Van Cleef, and Lee Marvin, to name but a few!- Was this review helpful to you?
