Don't expect a Kill Bill type masterpiece.By CBotch (17 reviews) , 19 Jun 2013
[Highly rated reviewer]After seeing the extensive cast list with the likes of Russell Crowe, Gordon Liu, Lucy Liu, this promised to be a Tarantino-esque (he presents the movie) martial arts mash up; unfortunately this doesn't happen. What you do get is a below average gore fest (unrated version) that starts to wilt within 30 minutes. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad movie; it has a slightly interesting story and a good cast (Russell Crowe is excellent) but the Tarantino nods don't work. The crossover soundtrack grates on the senses as does some of the dialogue. You often get the feel of the 'is it, isn't it meant to be like that?' moments that leave you wondering if the film is actually sometimes meant to be played for laughs. Some of the fight scenes and wire work are fantastic, as is the over the top violence. I know it's not meant to take itself too seriously, but it's that unsatisfied feeling you're left with once the credits roll. If you and your mates come home from the pub on a Friday night intending to watch a movie, then this will appeal. Just don't expect a Kill Bill type masterpiece.

good, but no Kill BillBy FilmFraz (4 reviews) , 05 Dec 2013The cast and description of this film promised much, but the film slightly disappointed. It was great in parts, and overall very cool! but don't expect a legendary martial arts film

Load of rubbishBy 316wwe (42 reviews) from Wembley , 28 Oct 2013I watched it when I was tired and didn't think much of it and so tried again and I have to say it was a load of crap and a complete waste of time. I thought that due to the cast it was going to be a good watch guess I was wrong.
A man of substanceBy a customer , 21 Oct 2013I don't find the sight of an overweight Russell Crowe waddling about; either credible or entertaining. I have vague memories of Miss Lui and great panoramic views. Apart from that the story lacked weight. Shame the leading man didn't....
Rza's BabyBy a customer , 18 Oct 2013Visually appealing and cool. And I like that the Rza directed it as any Wu Tang fan knows - his love for the genre is unparalelled. The soundtrack is also good. But why o why does the Rza choose to star in such a high profile role himself. Most of the time its hard to make out what he's saying given that his sinus is permenantly blocked giving his words a breathy slur. Its not bad overall, Russell Crowe is a badass.
