I'll start off by saying that this is a bit of a disappointment. Director Tsui Hark is below par with this fish out of water tale which has Jet Li travelling to America to see his old teacher, played by an on form Yuen Wah. The biggest problem is that is nearly an hour into the film before Jet Li does any serious fighting. I have to admit that even a below par for Mr Hark and Mr Li is still worth a watch. But this is far from a classic.
It is nice to see Jet in modern dress for a change, but he has been used far better in his more recent films, in particular Romeo and Kiss. The dubbing is a bit poor too. There are scenes when everyone is dubbed into English, but it is obvious that the language barrier is spposed to be there and they don't understand each other.... ?
The action is ok, when it finally arrives, but it is very much influenced by Die Hard. (Hanging off Sky Scrapers & trying to avoid glass on the floor.) This is one to watch if you have the time rather than making the time to watch.
