Great film - no extrasBy a customer from England , 10 Dec 2008
[Highly rated reviewer]The Matrix is clearly a 90s classic, and while the BD transfer isn't that amazing, it beats the now murky looking previous DVD release and replaces it with a sharp picture with great colours and contrast. Unfortunately this is a poor disk without even an interactive menu that some of the older DVDs have the cheek to list as a special feature. We have to wait for another release while the US gets a packed collectors set. The sequels probably look as good, but lets be honest, who wants to watch them twice.

A great concept, but a much over-rated filmBy Vericacious (17 reviews) , 19 Sep 2013So much more could, and should, have been done with the concept, but what we have here is just another dumbed down action movie, with the concept being used mainly to aid what would otherwise be ludicrous scenes of extreme, comic book-influenced violence. A great disappointment, especially given its reputation.
One of the best sci-fi trilogiesBy rafster (3 reviews) , 23 Feb 2013
THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHideAny fan of science-fiction will probably have watched this trilogy by now. There are very few other films that can match the action, special effects, and original storyline. To me, there's more to this trilogy than just amazing action and effects. The story is deep in many ways as it is influenced by religion and history. Try to work out when in time this is actually set in. The virtual world was designed to be the 20th/21st centuary but in reality it is many hundred or thousands of years after this. How many films do you know that have attempted to predict the distant future?
The Matrix RevolutionsBy RJNeb2 (1013 reviews) from London , 23 Aug 2012A model lesson in how not to make a movie trilogy, The Matrix franchise stumbles badly with its third and final entry. Its concurrently shot predecessor 'The Matrix Reloaded' had 70% action to 30% mumbo-jumbo. Here, those statistics are reversed with the poor audience sitting around thinking 'What the hell are they talking about?' Answers are few and the action that does remain - hardly any of it involving the lead characters - is simply not as spectacular as what has gone before. A major letdown.

I heard Will Smith was the favourite to play the leading role but he was too busy making the flop called Wild Wild West.
