A Christmas Carol has soared to the top of the U.S. box office with an opening weekend haul of £19.375 million in North America. The Disney hit - starring Jim Carrey as an animated Ebenezer Scrooge - toppled Michael Jackson's This Is It from the top spot. George Clooney's high-flying drama Up In The Air has been pushed back to its original December (09) release so the film isn't competing for box office bucks with the actor's comedy The Men Who Stare At Goats.
