  Al Pacino is heading back to Broadway - for a new production of his hit New York play The Merchant Of Venice. The actor has dazzled star-studded crowds this summer (10) at Central Park's Delacorte Theater in Manhattan, where he played villain Shylock in the William Shakespeare play, and bosses at The Public Theater are so impressed by his eight-week run, which ends on Sunday (01Aug10), they have struck a deal with Pacino to relocate the show this autumn (10).   Al Pacino's new Broadway production of Shakespeare's The Merchant Of Venice is already earning $1 million (666,670) a week in box office takings. The Oscar winner kicked off the New York revival of the classic play at the Broadhurst Theatre last week (19Oct10), and the money is already rolling in after just seven preview performances - with thousands snapping up tickets costing up to $140 (GBP93) each.   Al Pacino prepared for his role in an upcoming production of The Merchant Of Venice by visiting a Jewish temple in New York. The actor is preparing to play Jewish moneylender Shylock in a Public Theater showing of the Shakespeare play this summer (10) and has travelled to Brooklyn to do his research.   Hollywood veteran Jill Clayburgh has died. She was 66. The actress, who starred opposite Burt Reynolds in 1979's Starting Over, passed away on Friday (05Nov10) at her home in Lakeville, Connecticut following a long illness. Clayburgh's husband, playwright David Rabe, has revealed she suffered from chronic lymphocytic leukaemia for over 20 years, reports the Associated Press.
