Wilkie Collins' The Moonstone is an excellent who dunnit, it is just a shame that this production does not give the story the justice which I think the story deserves. The BBC production and certainly the acting look a bit 'hammy' by todays' standards. This story really is crying out to be re-done in a magnificent setting with a really good cast.
The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins is one of my all time favourite books. Unfotunately this low budget adaptation (very unlike the BBC) is quite horrendous. The acting is wooden, the sets dreadful and all round production values at an all time low. I appreciate this is 30 years old but that does not excuse this quite dreadful offering. I have to admit I only watched ten minutes before taking it out of the maxchine and sending it back. Isn't it time somebody had another go at filming this classic.
Will be honest and say this did seem to go on a little bit, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Nice for a wet Sunday afternoon
