Catchy musical numbers, famous cameos, and a surprise wedding keep this third Muppet movie lively and fun for kids and parents alike. Miss Piggy, whether skating on roller skates borrowed from Gregory Hines, fuming with jealousy, or looking lovely and plump in lavender, steals every scene, while good guy/frog Kermit captures viewers' hearts.
When the Muppets come to Broadway to find a producer for their musical, disappointment is the only result. Discouraged, the gang leaves New York and goes its separate ways while Kermit, his dream still alive, continues the search for a producer. With the help of a pack of rats who cook at a diner, Kermit signs up an enthusiastic producer and calls his friends back to New York. But when Kermit disappears before the musical opens, the rest of the Muppets must decide whether the show must go on.
Songs about working for one's dreams and the importance of friendship send upbeat messages to kids while parents will appreciate the good-humored jabs at the showbiz industry and the cameo appearances by Liza Minnelli, Joan Rivers, and Ed Koch, among many others.

This third big-screen outing for Jim Henson's puppets has playwright Kermit frog-marching his pals to New York to stage his college show on Broadway. Alas, he finds that biting the Big Apple can leave a sour taste in the mouth. It's not quite up to the standard of the two earlier outings, The Muppet Movie and The Great Muppet Caper, but the bouncy songs and clever use of Manhattan locations are bonuses. Muppet movies always feature a vast array of guest stars: watch out here for cameos from Liza Minnelli, Brooke Shields, Joan Rivers and Gregory Hines, among others.
Probably the best of the Muppet features, but by the time of its arrival the early brilliance had been forgotten and even Miss Piggy had worn out her welcome.
It really is impossible to dislike the Muppets! Not the best of their films, but still a must-see. A couple of cracking one-liners, with all the usual nonsense, dancing, and singing we've come to expect.
great title for the kids to watch, brings back memories lol.
Funnyman Jason Segel is writing a new film starring Jim Henson's muppets - four years after the characters were last seen in theatres. The Forgetting Sarah Marshall star is a big fan of the bug-eyed puppets, and is convinced he can win over audiences after 2005 film The Muppets' Wizard of Oz flopped. And he is hoping to revive the theatrical 1980s films starring Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear with a nostalgic movie tribute, after signing a deal with Disney. Segel says, "I'm trying Read more
