I love this film, one helluva flick!
A familiar theme this. The French take on Assault on Precinct 13, directed by the helmer of Hostage and starring Sammy Naceri of 'Taxi' fame. That would be the original French version of course, the less said about the American version the better.
Very few pictures follow the all out action route these days but The Nest has it by the truck load... big guns, big explosions, you get the idea.
The opening act sets the scene slowly but it isn't long before the first of many blistering shoot outs come your way.
The cast all do a fine job though it has to be said that with so many characters, very few of them are given the opportunity to shine. Character development certainly wasn't top of the list with this production. Thankfully though it is directed with style to spare and incredibly watchable from beginning to end as the script throws in a few curve balls along the way. And the odd grenade just be sure.
It wont change your life but there's plenty of bang for your, er, pound.
Samy Naceri has turned his hand to a serious action film and succeeded. It is adrenaline packed, and if you allow yourself to get sucked in by the action, you feel like you are in there with them, tensing at every moment.
Very well directed, with great attention paid to the characters' interactions.
