Such a shame
By jimlad (14 reviews) from Bradford , 18 Oct 2011[Highly rated reviewer]
Child actors in horror films fall into one of two categories.... petrifying, scary, believable, or absolute rubbish. Unfortunately this film is the latter. The boy never looks genuinely terrified which i think you would be if you were in his situation and the girl i think beloings to rich parents who paid the film company a lot of money for their child to star in a movie.
I actually feel a little sorry for Costner who, in my opinion, isn't really the 'star in a horror movie' type and i think has fallen into the trap that so many other movie blockbuster stars have found themselves in which is to star in something scary that may put them back in the limelight/top up their cash pot ( a bit like reality tv series). It's a shame as i think he can be a great actor in the right film (Mr Brooks)
Of course his supporting cast doesn't exactly take the focus off him, especially the teacher and the babysitter's cigarette on the porch scene - you'll see what i mean if you watch this.
This movie offers nothing new to the horror world. if you've seen things run in front of the tv and lightning strike at the same time as thunder then do not watch. The creatures also resemble those of The Descent as well as several other horrors.
If you want a scary film revolving around kids watch insidious- Was this review helpful to you?

Frustrating and ultimately disappointing
By a customer , 14 Mar 2013Sadly, this film never really goes anywhere and, as other reviewers have commented - the ending is similarly frustrating so that one thinks 'why did I watch all through it to get here?'.- Was this review helpful to you?

Rubbish ending - yet again
By a customer , 21 Jan 2013Film was OK - bit slow to start, but some good bits in it. Would have given it 3*'s but really fed up with lazy directors not finishing films off properly - seem to have had a spate of these lately.- Was this review helpful to you?
