Having read the play and been transported to the steamy jungle of mexico and the desperate lonilness and sexual chemistry between the characters, so brilliantly drawn by tenessee williams, I was nervous of a film that might wreck my image. This however is an excellent and vivid portrayal of the play. The performances of Richard Burton and Ava Gardener are a tour de force, the dialogue and chemistry keeping you gripped throughout as the tradegy unfolds.
