There are plenty of surprises in this amusing Donnie Darko-ish metaphysical thriller, but watching Van Wilder and Blade: Trinity star Ryan Reynolds flex some previously hidden acting chops is the main one

Interesting concept. Without spoiling the film the three seperate plots might have been much better if each plot was an actual film

'The Nines' or 'The Ones' ?
An interesting idea for a film but poorly executed on screen. Shame, as the standard of acting was in The Nines while the storyline was in The Ones
Fans of TV's The Prisoner, and the tricksy post-modern screenplays of Charlie Kaufman (Being John Malkovich; Adaptation; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) should give The Nines a go. This is the first film directed by John August, a well known screenwriter who counts Go, Big Fish, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Charlie's Angels among his credits.
