Thriller starring Jim Carrey. Walter Sparrow (Carrey) is a middle-aged dogcatcher whose wife Agatha (Madsen) has bestowed him with an obscure mystery novel detailing the investigation launched by a tough-talking gumshoe named Fingerling (also Carrey) whose every move seems to be overshadowed by the number 23. After noting a series of alarming parallels shared between the fictional detective and himself, Walter is quickly drawn in to the story. His mind fast descending into a dark and violent whirlwind of madness, Walter enlists the aid of Agatha and the pair's adolescent son Robin (Logan Lerman) in seeking out the author of the mysterious tome and uncovering the sinister truth behind the enigma.

Okayish

Carey is a good lead, although there is the odd gurn he is strong in places. The whole theory of the film does not stand up to scrutiny but overall good mindless fun.

Well not much of a reason to stay awake for this one. Anti-climax to not much of a suspension build up - dont bother

it's not a bad film but very slow. Definitely not one of Carey's best, he really is better at doing mad cap comedy's than going straight

I had this film on my list because I started to watch all films starring Jim Carrey. I came across this one with lots of mixed reviews. It was intriguing so I picked it, but I must admit I found it extremely weird. I don't feel I have gained anything by watching this film. Not even 2 hours of entertainment!

So silly and a really bad ending.

Jim Carrey so badly miscast.

Cannot believe I put this dreadful film on my list?? Waste of an evening baffled about how it came to land through my letter box. Did an old enemy recommend it? Did one of my nephews order it for me? What happened?
