    The odd couple

Light hearted, enjoyable, adaptation of a stage play.

Main characters Walter Matthau and Jack Lemon well cast as opposites sharing the same apartment. Matthau plays the slob and Lemon the fussy neurotic. Plenty of witty lines and situations, as well as lots of visual gags.

Only a theatrical trailer provided by way of extra features.

    The Ultimate Comedy Pairing!

The Odd Couple has (probably!) the best comedy pairing in cinema history. Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are hilarious as Felix and Oscar, trying to cohabit harmoniously. A situation arises which has Felix having to move in with his poker buddy Oscar but not everything runs smoothly, far from it. Felix is so uptight if you put a lump of coal up his butt, in a week you'd have a diamond! He cleans constantly, has numerous allergies and insists Oscar use a coaster. Oscar is an entirely different fish. He is a bit of a slob, easy going and couldn't give a rats bum about the cleaning. But what really makes the whole thing so special is the script. The dialogue is razor sharp; it will have you wetting yourself one minute and feeling sorry for the characters the next. Lemmon and Matthau play it straight all the way and they have effortless chemistry. A witty and hilarious script and superb comic timing make this a must see, a little gem!

    On screen chemistry explained

    • 27 Apr 2004

Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy have the best screen chemistry ever, according to top scientists. The Royal Society of Chemistry tested the silver-screen couple using a special formula - instead of in the lab or box-office and Oscar success. The nation's top chemists said that - like any chemical reaction - film chemistry needed two contrasting ingredients which combine to make something with "all the right stuff". John Emsley, author of the report "Vanity, Vitality and... Read more
