The complete first series of the award-winning BBC Television faux documentary. David Brent (Ricky Gervais) is the manager of paper merchant Wernham Hogg's Slough office, but in his own mind he's not so much the boss but 'more of a friend'. Unctious and ineffectual in equal measure, he turns the life of his staff into a neverending round of irritating mini-dramas. In episode 1, David is informed that company downsizing means that the Slough office might have to close. In a moment of gauche managerial bravado he promises his staff that there will be no redundacies, a promise he might not be able to keep. In episode 2, Donna arrives to start her work experience placement at Wernham Hogg, but the office is more obsessed by a dirty picture that's circulating. In episode 3, it's the annual quiz night and David's longtime sparring partner 'Finchy' is in town to take on all comers. However things soon turn nasty as the quiz turns into a battle against the university-educated newboy Ricky and Tim the reluctant sales rep. In episode 4 a management consultant has been sent to the office to impart some much needed wisdom. However David can't help but try to run things and soon the session descends into farce. In episode 5, despite the imminent cutbacks, David decides to take on a secretary and gets a bit too involved in the selection process, with a suspicion in the office that only the prettiest candidate will get the job. Finally in episode 6 the big day has finally come. Will the staff keep their jobs, or is the office to be closed down?

Disk two is a waste of time!

Disk Two is a bonus disk and contains NO episodes on it. Thought it was just my dvd player playing up at first and loading the wrong menu but nope, the only thing you can do with disk Two is watch a documentary about the program and some deleted scenes.

Guaranteed belly laughs for people with a brain!

Funniest sitcom ever. Doesn't matter how many times I watch it but still belly laugh every time! So cringeworthy brilliant!

Load of Rubbish

A load of rubbish, turned it of a 1/4 of the way through and cancelled my other discs, wouldn't waste my money getting the other discs.

David Brent - cringe, cringe and cringe again

The Office really is a piece of comedy genius. Ricky Gervais plays the role to perfection - the number of times I screwed up my face and had to watch from between my fingers paid testament to that!

The supporting cast play roles subtly enough to make you feel that you are watching an actual documentary and I'm sure there are workplaces around the country that mirror the goings-on at Wernham Hogg. Doesn't every workplace have a Gareth??

The character of David Brent alone makes The Office worth watching. Great writing from Gervais and Stephen Merchant.

Still Laughing

I am only sorry I got on board with the Office this late in the day. I am still chuckling several days after watching it. There is enough humour in here (both overt and subtle) to please everyone but fans of Harry Hill.

WATCH THIS!!

Ah this is fantastic - especially if you work in an office! A definite must see, and its even better the second and third times you watch it - I would say rent this from Love Film and then buy on DVD to have on hand to cheer you up when nessecary. Ricky Gervais is amazing.
