The TEST of timeBy Emjay69 (341 reviews) from Kidlington, Oxford , 23 Jun 2011Classic music from better times. Some of it is old footage that was made long before anyone ever thought of DVDs and the like. In fact it was around the time when our elders said 'It will never last. It will not stand the test of time'.
How wrong they were. I watched it with a guy some 20 years my senior (I'm almost 70) and his attitude was primarily, 'remember the good old days'.
Nowadays they no doubt keep all recordings in digital for future audiences, no matter how appalling it may appear, so that in forty years time DVDs (or whatever the medium is) will be of a 100% quality.
Happy MomentsBy madrich (3 reviews) from Bristol , 03 Sep 2009It was a real pleasure to watch a music program with such an eclectic range of good music hosted by presenters who were interested in the music and not their self- promotion. Also I had not been able to see much footage of Edgar Winter, Rory Gallacher, Alex Harvey or the great Lynyrd Skynyrd! I must be getting old! Music and Music programs were this good!
and that's why we needed punkBy hardtoplease (31 reviews) from London , 25 May 2008There's some great stuff here and should be looked at as an historical document. Of course you're not going to like all of it, that's the nature of musical taste.
But looking at Edger Winter all I could think was, us poor f***$$$s we still had years to wait untill punk came along.
Great Punk New Wave ItemsBy a customer from Kent , 04 Jan 2007The highlights of this DVD for me is the XTC track 'Stature Of Liberty' as I've never seen this before and it's a great performance.
Some good punk new wave on here like both Damned tracks from 1979, Blondie 'Presence Dear' 1978 and others like The Police, Talking Heads, Tubeway Army and the Specials 'Message To Rudi' etc.
Never understood these OGWT DVD's as I don't know why they mix in such a wide variety. They should do a Punk/New Wave disc, a Rock Disc and an Eighties Indie.
Why mix in Meatloaf with bands like The Damned as I'm sure it can't match that many peoples taste.
Anyway good for the late seventies stuff.
No Annie NightingaleBy Graham Simpson from Edinburgh , 18 Dec 2006On disc1 annie Nightingale is credited, but nowhere to be seen on the DVD.
Also, if you try and click on her profile, it will not le tyou access it.
Does anyone know why she got cold feet and obviously changed her ming about allowing permission?
