The Omega Man review

I wanted to see how this shaped up to The recent Will Smith version as the two are based on the same Richard Matheson story. Clearly the more recent film has benefited from CG to better create the desolate Cityscape and creatures. Omega Man relies on closed roads and theatrical cobwebs to create the abandoned look. And of course the night creatures in this look like escapees from a Halloween party. However it has a charm of its own and is quite exciting, I certainly found myself eagerly watching it through to the end, and even thinking that it has quite a satisfying if slightly clichéd conclusion.
Perhaps the most important change for I Am Legend was creating a character we could sympathise with and better understand. Charlton Heston plays a hard hearted war monger and does so with some skill - perhaps it was his natural affinity for guns! But certainly you don't feel any disappointment at the end of the film as far as his character is concerned.
