the patsy is just another fine example of a quality lewis film. good old slapstick humour with a barrage of big band music and a nice simple story line for all to enjoy. check this out along with the other titles such as disorderly orderly and cinderfella. a true cinematic great.

  • Well I liked it!

I laughed out loud on my own while watching this, Best bits in no particular order ..... having his makeover/greasy hair/hairy nails .... shouting out one really loud offkey note to his piano-playing music coach... mouthing his hit song completely out of synch on a tv programme .... the three yeh yeh yeh backing singers... him laughing at Hedda Hopper's massive hat. Just brilliant.

I used to find Jerry Lewis very funny when I was a kid, used to laugh me socks off, but now I can only find his antics idiotic in the extreme. I did like the colours in the film though, plenty of them for the clothes and interior decoration and furniture. Not really worth hiring the film for though. It's pretty awful.

  • Peter Lorre's last film

    Rated - 3.0 stars

Being a fan of Peter Lorre was the only reason to rent this film as it was the last appearance in films before his death. The film it self was pretty poor and Jerry Lewis was as usual pretty stupid. The extras were worth watching.

Now I enjoy the odd bit of leave-your-brain-at-home entertainment as much as the next man, but 'The Patsy' takes this too far even for me. You would really have had to have had a full frontal lobotomy to enjoy this one.

This is Jerry Lewis doing his usual mad comedy. Great if you have silly humour.
