Classic horror but oh so old

Having never seen the original I was interested to see how blu ray could effect an old silent film. I do not know what was added either music or colour so it is difficult say whether an improvement has been made. However it is still a very old film, and it is interesting to see what is surposed to be classic, and it is to a certain extent. By present day standards the acting is pretty poor, and it is still small screen. Worth a look.- Was this review helpful to you?

Simply too old (aren't we all)
By dmc1973 (1 review) from leeds , 19 Dec 2011I have to be honest, despite the reputation this film has as a classic, it was a difficult watch. The style of acting in silent films is so far removed from that of modern day that it basically just distances you from the story. I'm sure that when it was released 'The Phantom of the Opera' was hugely enjoyable but I'm afraid that it is simply too old to view now as anything other that a historical document of the time in which it was made.- Was this review helpful to you?
