This oddity - made for peanuts - just goes to show that great directors can have a little fun on the side. Having done 'Picnic At Hanging Rock' and 'The Last Wave', Weir decided to make a little 16mm film in three weeks for Australian TV. There are echoes of his other well-crafted 'student' film ('The Cars That Ate Paris'), focussing on paranoia and quirky characters. Ivar Kants is brilliant as the plumber and Judy Morris is perfectly cast as his nemesis. The ending is a bit weak, but that doesn't spoil the fun along the way. Worth watching...
