Fabulous!
By a customer from Warwick , 30 Jun 2008[Highly rated reviewer]
This film is a strange and wonderful tale of love, loss and bed-quilts. It has a quirkiness that is utterly enthralling; combine that with some glorious cinematography and you have a rarely discovered gem that deserves to be far better known. Beautifully conceived and acted, Karl Urban is a treat and Danielle Cormack displays great charm and veracity in her performance; the director, Harry Sinclair, keeps it well away from being precious or silly, while reveling in the whimsical nature that often characterizes New Zealand's highly underrated cinema.
A charming fairy-tale, a fable of young love, a poem to the New Zealand landscape, a paean to magic-realism... yes, that and more - there's a curse, an agoraphobic dog, a ring and suitcases full of baby-shoes. This is not a film which goes from A to B... more like A to F to C to Z etc. It would do the potential viewer a disservice to elaborate on the plot, but let's say - you won't be disappointed. If you liked 'Stardust', you'll love this!- Was this review helpful to you?
