I think Rachel George might have a tiny chip on her shoulder. She needs to stop taking herself so serious.- Was this review helpful to you?

(223)A Classic? Really?
By JimbobSquarePants (12 reviews) , 16 May 2013I expected this to be a fun fantasy movie that both adults and kids could enjoy, like 'Labyrinth' or 'The Never Ending Story', but I was very disappointed. Somehow over the years it has earned the status of cult classic and I'm not sure how. It has no edge to it, you never feel that the characters are in any kind of danger and the goofy humour just isn't funny - it's irritating. If it had been an all out spoof it may have been funny, if it had taken itself seriously, I may have cared for the characters; it tries to do both, and it fails.- Was this review helpful to you?

Rent this with a family size box of popcorn
By CobraEcosse (3 reviews) from Burntisland , 24 Jul 2012This is a wonderfully warm & inoffensive film that is an ideal movie to rent for a quiet evening with all the family.
If you enjoy your entertainment in the family friendly variety then this is for you. Yes some may find it slightly slow in places but remember the films premise is built around Peter Falk reading a book to his grandson and any lulls are more than made up for by the witty & endearing story. If this film does not warm your heart & make you smile I suggest you may have clicked on the wrong genre by mistake.
This is a delightfully clever film filled with fun, action & some romance, but most of all lots & lots of entertainment.
Granted its not Shapespear, but if your looking for a gentle film to settle down with a family sized box of popcorn then this is for you.- Was this review helpful to you?
