I think Rachel George might have a tiny chip on her shoulder. She needs to stop taking herself so serious.- Was this review helpful to you?

One of mine and my families favourite films of all time, slightly dated, but if you've never seen it you really must- Was this review helpful to you?

THE BEST FILM EVER!!!!
By f1babe (6 reviews) from ESSEX , 08 Oct 2010I watch this film at least twice a year & as a consequence, practically know the script by heart. I don't know why this movie captured my heart & soul when I first saw it - but over 20 years later & possibly 40 more viewings - I still hold this film in the highest regard as my ALL TIME FAVOURITE!!!! As you wish........- Was this review helpful to you?

Dated but fun! Rent this, but not for your teenagers.
By EllieG (2 reviews) from Worcester , 26 Aug 2010I loved the book and this film's story line is faithful, but oh my, the film is now very dated.
I enjoyed the film, with its witty quips, over emphasized characters and rollocking story line coupled with the quest of truest love. but, like i mentioned, the film is dated and will not appeal to all.
Teenagers will not like this film - it's too low budget with obviously artificial scenery and a stilted direction makes it compare badly with the fantastic Hollywood blockbusters available now. Younger children and book officianados will enjoy the film, get the humour, enjoy the adventurous farce and have a good hour and a bit viewing. It is vastly different from every other film around so rent with confidence.
I say - c'mon Hollywood - grab this story and remake the film.
