Disney makes a welcome return to classic hand-drawn animation in The Princess and the Frog.

This looks like it is going to be great. I cannot wait for it to come out in the UK. I will definately buy this.

Good clean family fun. Disney is not just for little kids it is for big kids too.

This is one of my favourite Disney animations. Absolutely beautiful with a wonderful storyline. The voice cast performed brilliantly. Absolutely love the soundtrack. If you love jazz music you got to watch this!

Although older than perhaps I would care to admit, I really love a good Disney animation. One thing very noticeable though has been the shift from hand drawn animation to CGI. So for Disney to go 'back to their roots' with some encouragement from John Lasseter (Pixar) is excellent to see!

But on to the actual film, and I must say I thought it was really very good! Now don't get me wrong, it's no Lion King, but it is still very good indeed!

1st up - the story is a nice 'frog prince with twist'. Well written and the voice cast (although largely unknown at least to me) are very good. The strong female heroine is a very good addition to an already broad pantheon of Disney heroines.

2nd - The setting, setting it in New Orleans and the Bayou almost gives the film an additional character! Excellent! The smaller characters are great fun too!

3rd - The artwork and animation are - in my opinion - absolutely stunning! Don't get me wrong, I like CGI animations as much as the next man, but the care and attention that has gone into this really shows. It looks fantastic!

Finally, I do think there are a couple of small niggles. Both relatively minor in my opinion. As this is set in the deep south, some young children may find some of the broad accents hard to decipher (personally I loved them, but I did wonder whether kids who have never heard these accents before might struggle). My final niggle is simply the songs - 24 hours after watching and I can't remember a single one! Unusual, especially given Randy Newmans involvement.

The really big question though - Whens the next Disney hand drawn animation? They seem to be silent on this!

I'm a big Disney fan as is my 2 year old daughter..I was very pleased to see Disney go back to their original style of animation instead of CGI like 'tangled'. the story was different than I expected and the songs weren't very catchy or Disney like. but we enjoyed the film and the animal characters were hilarious. at least watch it before you judge it.

THIS REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS Show review anywayHide

I watched this with my 3 daughters who are all Disney Princess fans and I've got to say it really dragged! They all endured but agreed afterwards it was a bit boring. It didn't really pick up until the girl turned into a frog and then it was ok. I certainly wouldn't reccommend it for very young children as there are many 'voodoo' influences in it which are quite frightening and difficult to explain to a child.
