Having failed to capitalise on his Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels perfomance with an appearance in the incoherent Rancid Aluminium, Nick Moran realignes the balance with considerable aplomb in this direct-to-video offering. Credibly suggesting the pressures of his perilous situation, he plays an undercover cop whose sting on mobster Stephen Lang is jeopardised by both the divided loyalties of rookie Jennifer Esposito and the heavy-handed tactics of the FBI. Considering this was his directorial debut, Richard Gale sustains the tension without resort to self-conscious flourish and allows the action to turn on character, not contrivance.
A slow-paced thriller with not many thrills and an inevitable romance; it never achieves any feeling of place or reality.
This will not knock your socks off but any fan of the female lead will love it for her alone. The two leads are good but the support are average tv actors. The story is compitent and keeps you entertained but you wont be shouting about it from any roof tops
