The Rage: Carrie 2

A surprisingly intelligent, entertaining sequel to the original Stephen King-penned high school prom nightmare. Twenty-three years later, Carrie's telekinetic half-sister Rachel (Bergl) is facing many of the same social hurdles as Carrie. When her best friend (Suvari), a fellow misfit, commits suicide as a result of being jilted by a jock who used her as a simple conquest, Rachel holds the knowledge that could deprive the football team of a key player. When she begins dating a football player (London), his jock friends target Rachel for revenge. Irving returns as Sue Snell, now a guidance counselor.

Romeo and Juliet Still Know What They Did Last Summer in this belated sequel to Brian De Palma's terrifying masterpiece Carrie. This abysmal travesty goes through the same narrative motions as the 1976 classic, even using clips as redundant flashbacks. Yet it repeatedly stomps on the memory of that class Stephen King act with utterly routine direction, tired gore and a complete lack of pathos. Emily Bergl takes a stab at filling Sissy Spacek's shoes as another vulnerable outsider with fatal telekinetic abilities who takes revenge on her taunting schoolmates at a post-Big Game party. However, she's fighting a losing battle in this colourless, crass and crude supernatural freak-out.

    NICE

I like this film it is a good follow up to the first film and during the film reminds us of those good old carrie days. I like the storyline of how it links to the first one and generally i wouldnt say its scary but its certainly a very good watch. If you enjoyed carrie one then this is for you.....

    Raging Repition

The Rage is worth a watch if you're a fan of the original 1976 'Carrie' film and you like the whole high school drama/teen horror genre. I rented Carrie 2 expecting to find the film quite lame in comparison to it's original, but I was pleasantly suprised to find myself gripping onto the edge of the sofa in places. As for the storyline itself, well it is guilty of being a repeat of events which occurred 20 years earlier. There are plenty of flashbacks to classic scenes from the original Brian De Palma film, as Sue Snell remembers her past, but it was quite refreshing to see Sissy Spacek unleashing her full rage at the prom night again. I wonder whether there is more rage portayed in the first film than the second though!
