    HAHA

to say the actors in this film went to the pinochio school of acting would be offensive to wooden actors...they all look like they are mumbling words of an autocue or placards....

the only thing missing from the 'Leon' hotel shootout scene was the flowerpot..

this is a must-see to watch how bad a film you can actually get away with making

Setting a new record in boredom!

I've got bored in the middle of slow, badly acted, obscure movies before. On rare occasions I've even given up before the end of just a handful of the worst, but this one set a new record for viewer boredom.

When I began thinking 'this is tedious' the timer on the DVD player read '0:07:50'. I stuck it out for another 10 minutes before deciding to go watch some paint dry instead.

A typically French movie, pretending to be 'arty', deep and grainy - which is great if the acting, directing and plot are up to it. They weren't. The acting was shallow, the directing was obscure and disjointed and the plot was unbelievable.

I like my movies, I'll put up with a lot if it at least holds my attention -this one didn't - not even enough to see if it would get any better.

All in all this is one to avoid.

    Exciting

The plot has enough depth to be interesting and the lead parts are well acted. There are numerous tense moments that add to the quality of the film and the action is well balanced with drama. This is good quality entertainment and boredom never took hold - 8.5/10.

    Good story,Awesome Shootout!

The write up for this in the review, doesn't do this justice, the trailer was eyecatching, and from start to finish a good gripping thriller, with suprisingly one of the best shoot outs seen in a film. Intense gripping and bloody, reminiscent of Leon, but this is a worthy rental and rewarding if you give it the time!

    Just watch the gunfight!

Red Siren might not a very well acted or made thriller but it has one awesome scene. If you liked “Leon” then you're in for a treat as a lone gunman has to hold off a small army of seriously equipped bad guys. When the power is cut and it they switch to night vision - if you like you'll be hooked.

Thank God for DVDs so can jump through the rest of the film!

    Give me back my life

For the 1st time in years I had to turn this off after fifty minutes. Acting is shoddy, direction is something out of a dodgy rock video.

If you have an undying need to watch the special needs version of Leon then go for it.

However be warned you are not going to get that 1hr 50mins of your life back. Realistically though if you took the distributor to the European Court of Human Rights you may have a case.

    Absurdly overblown

A desperately old-fashioned thriller, shot in an highly melodramatic manner which, alas, only tends to emphasise the tin-eared dialogue, while making the narrative needlessly obscure. For some reason, however, I sort of enjoyed it. Over the course of nearly two hours, a little girl persuades a freedom-fighter and a cop (ridiculously miscast Asia Argento) to help her find her dad, who is hiding from her super-sadistic, super-wealthy mum in Portugal. There's no more plot than that (aside from a few dispensible mercenaries), but the film does manage to string things along, albeit in a slightly cynical manner. I'm not sure to whom it is supposed to appeal - too arty for action fans; too silly for the art-house - but, in falling between the two stools, it is not entirely without merit.
