This film is very much like the proverbial curate's egg; good in parts; but these are too few to make it as good a movie as it could have been. There are some fantastic scenes, especially those centred around the Christmas dining table, but all too often what could have been witty and incisive is passed over quickly or totally disregarded. A film that promises much but ultimately fails to deliver.
