When an ambulance crew are sent to what they believe is a prisoner of war camp to assist with a medical emergency, the group are completely unprepared for the devastation they find. As a outbreak of Typhus spreads through Belsen, Lt Col James Johnston (Iain Glen) and his men struggle to cope with the immense task before them.

Packs a powerful punch
Powerful and haunting
A fantastic drama of the relief of belsen by the British at the end of april 1945. This is the story of the Royal Army Medical Corp units who attempted to save as many of the Belsen prisoners as they could, the main problem being a typhus epidemic sweeping the camp and the vast amounts of dead and dying left all around the camp.
Though this is a grim reminder of the dark legacy of what was found by the allies during the liberation of europe it is a fitting testimony to the hard work of the medical staff of all nations who fought so hard to save as many people as possible.
Actual photographs and some footage show some of the horror of Belsen camp and try to show a picture of the massive problem that the medical staff faced.
A fantastic drama that had me gripped to the end!
