This acceptable enough Disney animation is a sequel that came such a long time after The Rescuers (1977) that it could be forgiven for having lost the plot, because introductions to the “rescue mice” Miss Bianca and Bernard had to be made all over again. This time they're called to Australia to help a boy and golden eagle in danger from a fearsome trapper. It's likeable enough and the crocodile-snapping climax is exciting stuff. Bob Newhart and Eva Gabor are great as the voices of Bernard and Bianca, though it's a shame that fine actor George C Scott is only a disembodied presence.

Slick, lively and enjoyable animated feature, an improvement on the original.

    More Mouse Mayhem

It's actually rather good. The kid is just a cipher anyway: everyone knows the true protagonists of the Rescuers movies are Bernard and Bianca, who are American and Hungarian respectively - no problem with the voices there. It's a decent rescue movie, sharply paced, with animation that leaps ahead of `The Little Mermaid' (mermaid herself excepted). The na?ve computer animation will, I predict, age better than many more sophisticated attempts. (It already has.) There are moments of true humour. Why, then, did this film fail at the box office? I'll tell you why - it was the words `down' and `under' in the title.

    Good fun

The kids thought this was fantastic. Being a child of the rescuers era I'm pleased they have kept up the good work.

    Animated Disney Movie.

Another Disney Classic, fairly good the children enjoyed it, however once it had been watched they didn't seem in having a re-run. This time the duo go to Australia to save a boy and an eagle from a poacher.

    A great sequel

If you haven't seen the first film go and watch it now. This sequel is great though, still has the same character and wonderful storyline to keep children and adults entertained. A young boy is kidnapped by an evil man hunting an eagle, the man knows the boy knows where the eagle is so he sets a trap to get the boy to lead him to the eagle. The local rangers think the boy has been killed by crocs so the rescue mission is called off. This is where the mice from the rescue aid society come to rescue the boy and the eagle. It is great viewing and will really keep you entertained.
