The Return.. I won't be going back...

This really looked the deal, the previews set it up to be a fast paced, interesting thriller. It was a slow dirge that had some interest at the end to explain it all, but took a highway to nowhere getting there. I dont want to burst the bubble too much, as I am sure some will fairly enjoy this, but it was pretty tame, no shocks, no surprises, and very laborious to watch. Normally I don't mind S.M. Gellar too much, but in this she is pretty expressionless and I would rather see Uri Gellar. All in all I could not forgive myself if I reccomended this - and though its not a total waste of time, I would pass it over for something more interesting.

    THE MOST BORING FILM EVER

this film was 80mins long and nothing was explained until about 70mins in. If you want to be entertained don't watch this film. Trust me by the end you won't care what happens who lives or dies, well that is if you don't switch it off before that.

SMG shoud really think more carefuly about the roles she accepts as this film shoud never have been made especially with her as the lead actress. She showed more acting potential in scooby doo.

    absolutely awful

has to be the worst film I've seen, might have helped if there was any kind of storyline at all. Would not recommend it at all!!

    The Return of blandness

Sarah Michelle Gellar stars as Joanna, a woman who heads to a small Texas town to solve the mystery of her inexplicable memories. Sadly, the mystery isn't worth solving from the viewers point of view and when it is they had already got there way before Joanna.

Bland and lacking in pace, it is a tame horror that delivers no surprises.

    Return to Sender...

I was really looking to forward to this one - sounded like just my cup of tea. Sadly it turned out otherwise! The film is very dull and very slow for 95% of the time - the sets are grey and brown, the clothes are grey and brown, the weather is grey and brown, the mood is grey and brown. The pace is exceedingly slow throughout, and former kick ass teen scream queen Sarah Michelle Geller has turned into a (brown haired!) weedy, skinny, pale, useless waste of space who looks all puppy eyed throughout and converses in pathetic little whispers that only bats can hear. The rest of the cast are about a memorable as last weeks news. I can't remember personally seeing any other films that have quite the same twist at the end, although there are some very similar ones, so I have to give it at least a two star rating for a little tiny bit of sparkle at the end, and about two decent 'ooh I made you jump' moments in the middle. Don't have a warm drink while you're watching this, you'll be asleep in less than 10 minutes!

    Awful

The worst film I've seen in a while. Boring & predictable, Gellar must have owed someone a favour to appear in this drivel.

If you can make it through this without nodding off at least once - then fair play to you! Avoid.

    Return?

The full title of this DVD should read 'The Return Of This Disc Unwatched Is Advised.' You'll feel better if you just do that. Boring, predictable and too arty to be taken seriously as a horror film. Sara Michelle Geller needs to be careful or she will slip into ex TV star obscurity with drivel like this.

    watchable, but only just..

It's possible that seeing Sarah Michelle Gellar in a vulnerable role is something that we'll have to get used to. After her huge success playing a strong female on the Buffy the Vampire Slayer series, she seems to have shrunk into weaker roles, such as Joanna in The Return.

Without much personality, it's hard to relate to Joanna as a character. So even at her most terrified, it's difficult to feel her fear and therefore get lost in the storyline, or lack of it.

This isn't a flaw in Gellar's acting, but more in the general plot and poor movie-making.

A simple idea that is dragged on for far too long (although only seemingly, as the film is a mere 75 minutes in length), with not much substance, sense or finality in the story leaves a disappointed audience.

The scares are few, and not even scary in the slightest, and the unbelievable characters give the viewer an empty feeling that leads to lack of interest. Ultimately, whether you're a Sarah fan or not, you end up not really caring if Joanna lives or dies.

As for the strange twist at the end, no matter how hard you try to think it makes the rest of the story better, it really doesn't.

Worth watching if you liked Boogeyman or the first installment of White Noise, but I seriously doubt you did.
