    [Highly rated reviewer]

I appreciate this film is a little dated but to anyone with a knowledge of some basic facts about the killing spree credited to Jack The Ripper it is a let down.

The Royal Conspiracy hinted at in this film is one of the least plausible theories in trying to identify Jack The Ripper, though it remains popular.

The lead actor, Patrick Bergin, could barely disguise his American accent and his side-kick had a barely hidden Australian accent.

Opulent garden parties were shown - ladies with bare arms - this ignores the fact the killing spree in question took place during a miserable autumn in London, not a place where you would expect to here crickets of an evening.....

After perhaps only two or three murders in the film, assuming these were from the canonical victims, the victim photos included a photo of Mary Kelly after she was killed. She was the fifth of the canonical victims and was not dead at this point....

Ok, so the film was a factual mess and not very well made. Redeeming features? Samuel West as Prince Eddie showing the duality one might expect of a serial killer.

If you want to watch a dated film on this subject try the 1988 Jack the Ripper with Michael Caine - at least you get pretty genuine cockney accents......

I was very dissapointed with this film. The plot focussed on the prince as the ripper rather than looking at who the ripper was in relation to the actual historical facts and all of the actors had australian accents which made the film seem like it was an Australian setting rather than London.
