A film that leaves you feeling traumatised by the end of it shouldn't be good but somehow this is.
By SilentHouse (17 reviews) from Barrhead , 12 May 2013Wow! This film stayed with me for days. I'm not even sure if it was in a good way. Having said that, I'd recommend it, but not if you're prone to feelings of depression or despair. It won't cheer you up and you might even wish you hadn't watched it but it certainly won't bore you or leave you untouched emotionally. Watching this is slightly masochistic.- Was this review helpful to you?

Load of old tosh
By ianrowbo (2 reviews) , 17 Apr 2013I cannot understand what all the hype was about for this film. I felt I needed to know why the characters found themselves where they were, and because we don't know that, then basically, I couldn't give a toss what happened to them. By the end of this dullfest I was so unconcerned about who they were or what happened to them that I was almost hoping the kid got eaten.- Was this review helpful to you?

Thoughtful impressionistic gloom
By seraphita (15 reviews) , 15 Mar 2013Wonderful unremitting gloom. Far surpasses most other post-apocalyptic films I`ve seen. I immediately compared this with Tarkovsky`s Ivan`s Childhood, which I had just seen, where that too features a child, wise beyond his years..in Tarkovsky`s film the conclusion is grim but effective...but couldn`t help feeling let down by the neat positive resolution of The Road. Probably the book makes this transition from dark to light more meaningfully. It makes you want to read the book to find out. If you love atmosphere and sombre moods, watch this.- Was this review helpful to you?

dark apocolyptic journey across america
By paddyh (20 reviews) , 10 Feb 2013Very well done dark apocolyptic journey across America. Unrelenting at times and had Rach behind a cushion briefly. Sub plot of the father's paranoia that they are 'being followed' and preparing his son for when he is gone.- Was this review helpful to you?
